First public demonstration of the UNG Project during the Open World Forum

Paris (France), Tokyo (Japan), Dover (USA). November 24^th, 2010. The Free Cloud Alliance (FCA) presented during the Open World Forum the first release of "UNG Docs", an open source online text editor. This solution is presented to be one of the major alternative to proprietary online software and is intended to be used by Companies or Governments willing to keep control over their Data. UNG Docs is a first step in the "UNG is Not Google" (UNG) project. Since it first announcement in CONSEGI 2010 in Brazil, the project has gained the interest of many open source contributors all over the Planet.

Jean-Paul Smets, CEO of Nexedi, declared: "During the last couple of years, many companies has moved their data over the cloud. They now realised that by doing so they have lost their freedom and control on their data. By creating an Open Source alternative to the major online proprietary software, we are willing to give back control and privacy to our customer. We are focusing on data portability, complete access to code and absence of vendor lockin."

Gabriel Monnerat, UNG Docs Project Manager adds: "Thanks to all the available technologies in the Free Cloud Alliance, we have been able to develop an application ready to be deployed in only 3 months. We have received requests from contributors from all over the world. I have no doubts that we will come very soon with a complete suite which could bring freedom over the cloud. The UNG Project is conducted so everyone will have the technologies to provide services over the cloud. The entire source code of the project is available on our server."

Jean-Paul Smets concludes: "The project has catch the interest of governments, companies and universities all over the world. I invite all interested persons to join the initiative and to help us with one of the most promising open source project nowadays."
